VOLUNTEERING AT THE 'Y' 

Kindergarten Pre-school English Program - No teaching experience needed

Brownies/Guides Bauhenia Division

Leaders always needed due to HK turnover. Previous experience is not necessary as training is available. Ideal volunteers are mature adults who like the great outdoors and working with girls ages 6-12 (Brownies), 10-18 (Guides), 14-21 (Rangers) and women aged 65 and over (Golden Guides).
 
China Coast Community

China Coast Community is a care and attention home for English Speaking elderly persons.  Volunteers may assist in the following areas : General visiting of the Elderly residents, one to one visiting of the residents, assist on outings held every two months, assist with regular activities such as Bingo, Afternoon Teas, Tuck shop.

Community Drug Advisory

Domestic Helpers and Migrant Workers Programme Christian Action*

Volunteers required to interview the maids with their immigration and employment problems. Training will be given. People required to escort helpers to the Labour Tribunal as observers and to play a more active role at conciliations meetings. Interpreters are also needed for those who speak Indian, Nepalese or Indonesian
 
 
Helpers for Domestic Helpers Limited *

Volunteers required to interview and advise maids with employment and immigration problems, prepare labour claims and accompany clients at conciliation meetings and hearings before the Labour Tribunal and the Minor Employment Claims Adjudication Board. The work is conducted under the supervision of qualified lawyers who will provide training and guidance.

Home for severely handicapped children and adults on Castle Peak Road (near Sheung Shui). Committed volunteers required to help bathe and get children ready for school in the morning at 7.00 a.m. and help and at meal times too. Parking available. Occupational therapists and physiotherapists also required. Regular commitment is essential.

Riding for the Disabled*

This is a ‘home-away-from-home' in Shatin and is a haven for families of children undergoing treatment for serious illnesses or injuries at nearby Prince of Wales Hospital. Far from home, they need a place to rest while they remain near their child. St. Barnabas Society & Home
